The Pappinisseri Visha Chikitsa Kendram today stands as an ode to the resilience of one leader who wanted to provide immediate and accessible health care to the common man.
Post Covid Treatment in Kannur-Ayurveda
According to the data evaluation done by Department of Ayush, Post Covid-19 syndrome was reported among 1,451 of the 4,871 people covered in the data collection. Among them, 39.1% had fatigue as the major symptom, followed by cough (26.5%), shortness of breath(13.8%), and muscle ache(12.5%). Abdominal discomfort was reported among 11.9% and sore throat among 11.8%. Psychological disturbances (6.5%) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (1.2%) were also reported.
Taking this into consideration, a Post COVID Ayurveda Care Centre was inaugurated on December 1, 2020 in association with Department of Agadatantra, MVRAMC and Pappinisery Visha Chikitsa Kendra.
Pappinisseri Visha Chikitsa Kendram , one of the first snake bite treatment hospitals, was established as a charitable institution to treat snake bite casualties back in the 1960s. At the time PVCK was the only snake bite treatment hospital in Kannur and currently runs as an integrated unit where anti-venom is available in emergencies.
The new block in Pappinisery Visha Chikitsa Kendram was established for post COVID Ayurveda Care Centre where the patients are first evaluated at the reception and then directed towards the consultation room which is open from 9 am to 4 pm on all days. The clinic is well sanitized, and the doctors follow all safety protocols – using face shield, gloves etc. The added advantage of the Post Covid Care Clinic in Pappinisseri Visha Chikitsa Kendram are the specially formulated medicines prepared in MVR pharmacy which is customised according to patients’ needs .
Ayurveda, especially Agadatantra, being closely related to the present condition of visha and aama and with a huge experience of curing symptoms and complications of unknown latent toxins showed effective results in treating post covid symptoms as well.
